2022 SaaS Trends You Won’t Want to Miss

January 26, 2022

Wondering where the SaaS industry is headed in 2022? Whether you’re a SaaS developer or user of SaaS technology, read on to discover the top 2022 SaaS trends and how they may affect your business.

Growth in SaaS Will Continue to Defy Economic Trends

While many industries took a hit last year, SaaS experienced massive growth in 2021. This growth trend is expected to continue into 2022. According to Gartner, end-user spending on cloud services will grow by 21.7 percent in 2022 to $482 billion.

SaaS Will Be Everywhere

While we’re still waiting on final numbers, experts predicted that by the end of 2021, 99% of companies will be using at least one SaaS solution to operate their business. In 2021, 78% of businesses already used at least one SaaS technology, so this prediction may actually be realistic and attainable.

Look out another year, and the effect of this trend will be palpable. Researchers predict that by 2023, 86 percent of companies will run solely on SaaS technologies.

Vertical SaaS Models Will Continue to Grow

Many SaaS solutions are usable across industries. Anyone can implement them, whether they run a small business or large firm. Other SaaS solutions are custom-built for specific industries. This is true for the transportation, health care, financial, and logistics industries, just to name a few.

Vertical SaaS is appealing for several reasons. Since these solutions are purpose-built for a particular industry, they offer a higher standard of quality to customers and end users. They offer tools and reporting that are tailored to an industry’s specific needs.

SaaS Integration Will Continue to Expand

SaaS solutions are great, but they are exceptional when they can talk to each other. Another 2022 SaaS trend is greater availability of API integrations. APIs connect different SaaS solutions together. This way, SaaS technologies can communicate and share data. Integration can save your team time and effort reentering data or moving between apps to gather insights or take action.

SaaS Goes Mobile

SaaS will continue to expand into the mobile market with mobile-first solutions. This means companies will design SaaS solutions for mobile devices first, then configure these platforms to work on the desktop. This is the opposite of how many technologies are currently developed.

This is great news for transportation, logistics, health care, and other companies that rely on mobile devices to support their teams in the field. Mobile-first SaaS technologies have the potential to make implementation and employee buy-in more successful, as they are easier and more intuitive to use on a phone or tablet.

Implementing SaaS technology in the field can be complicated, not only for companies, but for SaaS providers. Get in touch with the experienced and knowledgeable team at eSquared for help connecting hardware to SaaS solutions.
